This quote means that choosing a good name for your self like for example you  are doing something really well good  like saying helping  someone out like buy them food for the homeless that's giving you  a good name for your self because your helping someone out. Knowing they need some help from others and if that's you the one that gets to help that person out , some day other god well help you  and thank you for what you have done. And that's what makes you a better person in life and that's how you "us" get a good name because of the favor or any other favor we did for those people that were in need and still are in need at this moment wand need someone's help. That's why it say that a good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life. Getting a great name for example "god's helper" that basically saying that god sent you to help other's cause god knows your a person  that is very caring and helpful no matter what. Which means we should be thankful of what we have right now that other's don't have at this moment. Like  the example coach k is giving us and had gave to others , which can mean that we can be a great person like coach k is at this moment.
